AUSTRALIAN singer Rob Mills has been slammed by users on social media after allegedly posting a ‘homophobic’ image to celebrate the Hawks’ AFL Grand Final win over the Swans.
The photo, which Mills has since deleted from his Instagram account, depicts two figurines in a sexual position with the hashtags #hilarious #criticssaidwhaaaaaat #b2b and #alwayshawthorn.
Mills, who was a finalist on the first season of Australian Idol and most recently starred as Danny in the Grease musical, was criticised by some for using sexual imagery as a metaphor for being beaten.
“It equates receiving anal sex with being beaten or losing — that is homophobic,” tweeted Erin Riley from Sydney.
She said a group of Hawthorn fans had been chanting during the match: “Sydney take it up the a---, doodah, doodah”.
Others have defended Mills.
news.com.au has contacted Mills for comment.
