A MAN with a gun has been holed up inside a north Queensland home for more than nine hours.
Police have closed streets, are diverting traffic and urging residents to stay inside, around the home on Burston St, Mackay. People are being advised to avoid the area.
Officers were called about by a person concerned about the man’s welfare about 8.45pm last night.
Police were later told he was alone and armed with a gun and declared a public safety preservation order act at 10.45pm. Officers told AAP they were still negotiating with the man at 6.15am today.
